THIRD SUSTAINABILITY WEEK
At the third Global Sustainability Week at ING Bank Netherlands, we had the opportunity to contribute to the Kick-Off with our VR experience. The aim of the week is to accelerate the global transition to a carbon neutral society by raising employee engagement, bringing sustainability from the head to the heart, making participants feel the urgency and creating wakeup calls.
In the morning we facilitated three VR Workshops EARTH FROM SPACE® for 250 employees. At the end of the workshops we talked about the future of the Paris Agreements and presented the recent developments in sustainability in the US, EU, China and globally. Concluding that although progression is (far) too slow, social tipping points in major transformations are near.
The afternoon started with an inspiring keynote presentation by André Kuipers, Astronaut and Ambassador for Planet Earth. Followed by some 600 participants, life at the event and online, André showed amazing footage about the beauty and vulnerability of our Planet, and talked about the important role space technology and satellites play in monitoring worldwide pollution, deforestation and sea level rise.
After wich Elles Ogink, Head of ESG Business Banking NL presented ING’s storyline on Sustainability and Climate Action:
1. helping to drive down emissions to meet the global goal of net zero
2. building up the financing of the new technologies and sustainable systems of the future
3. include everyone – finding ways to enable people to play their part in the transition
Finally we took part in a panel discussion with André Kuipers and Elles Ogink, hosted by Marnix van der Velden, Sustainability Activation Expert at ING.
